The VPR Poem of the Week is Lynnell Edwards’ “Easter Monday,” which appeared in the Spring/Summer 2008 issue (Volume IX, Number 2) of Valparaiso Poetry Review.
Lynnell Edwards is the author of The Farmer's
Daughter (2003), The
Highwayman's Wife (2007), and Covet (2011), all published by Red Hen Press. Her
poetry and reviews have appeared in numerous literary journals,
including Dos Passos Review, Georgia Review, Los Angeles Review, Pleiades, Poetry East, Rain Taxi, Southern Poetry Review, and Verse Daily. She is the
recipient of the 2007 Al Smith Fellowship from the Kentucky Arts
Council. Edwards lives in Louisville, Kentucky, where she is on the Board of Directors for Louisville Literary Arts,
a non-profit literary arts organization that sponsors the monthly InKY
reading series and The Writer’s Block Festival. She is Associate
Professor of English at Spalding University, and she also teaches creative writing at the Carnegie Center for Literacy.
Tuesday of each week One Poet’s Notes highlights an excellent work by a poet selected from the issues of Valparaiso Poetry Review, except when other posts with news or updates preempt the usual appearance of this item, with the recommendation that readers revisit it.
